Lord Mayor of London Alan Yarrow (pix) acknowledged that the country's system of Islamic finance is one of the most mature in the world.
"Malaysia has been very progressive in establishing a unique interpretation (of Islamic finance).
He said that Britain is interested in working with Malaysia to encourage the growth of Islamic finance.
"We think we can support Malaysia in particular because it has put an enormous effort to get Islamic finance accepted," he said, adding that the system of banking and governance in the country is conducive to the growth of Islamic finance.
Yarrow said that through his visit, he saw the different collaborative opportunities that both countries could work on.
"We have a wonderful relationship with Malaysia - through education, manufacturing, et cetera.
"I have come across a lot of interesting opportunities here where we can support Malaysia - particularly in education and training," he said.
He also praised Malaysia's commitment to the growth of Islamic finance globally.
Yarrow was speaking to the media after taking part in the Islamic Finance News Asia Forum 2015 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here on Tuesday.
